Dark chocolate packs heart healthy polyphenols, perfect for Valentine’s Day, which also happens to land in February which is American Heart Month.
This dark chocolate mousse has avocados as its’ base, adding fiber and monounsaturated fats.
With a touch of pure maple syrup for sweetness, it’s light, creamy, and delicious.
Prep time is about 5 minutes – just dump all ingredients in the food processor, and whirl away. Chill for about an hour before serving.
You can top it with whipped cream, or coconut cream to keep it vegan, or opt for fruit and coconut flakes as shown here. Toasted walnuts would also be delicious, adding some omega 3 fatty acids and fiber.

Serves 4 – Divide into 4 ramekins
- 2 very ripe avocados
- 4 ounces dark chocolate, minimum 72%, melted
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup almond milk
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch sea salt
