I recently did a hands-on nutrition workshop for an energetic, enthusiastic, and emphatically social group of 8 year old girls so they could earn Brownie badges.
I barely survived, but these fruit based recipes we prepared came through with flying colors!
Strawberry Banana Smoothie
2 cups milk, any variety
1 banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
Place all ingredients in a blender and whirl until smooth
Serves 2-4
Fruit Kabobs
Wash, and then cut any variety of fruit you like into bite size pieces. (Except grapes and strawberries – leave them whole.)
Some ideas include:
Watermelon, Apples, Pears, Oranges, Seedless Grapes, Cantaloupe, Bananas, Strawberries, Pineapple, Kiwi, Mango, Asian Pear, Starfruit
Place on skewers and enjoy
Variations:
- Roll kabob in yogurt, then granola, coconut, or mini chocolate chips
- Use a variety of fruits and cheeses on kabobs, like apples and cheddar, pears and brie, or figs and goat cheese
